From Humble Beginnings to Flourishing Legacy: The Story of Ram Food Industries

Our Journey

1960 – A New Beginning

In 1960, Shri Munshi Lal Gupta left his native village of Palwal, Haryana, and moved to Delhi with a vision to create a better future for his family. Armed with determination, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit, he began his journey in the pulses trade.

1960 – 1970 | Learning the Trade

Over the next decade, he established himself as a respected pulses broker in Naya Bazar, Delhi, one of India’s largest grain markets. These years provided him with invaluable industry knowledge, relationships, and experience.

1970 – Establishing the First Dal Mill

Recognizing the potential in pulse processing, Shri Munshi Lal Gupta invested his savings and, with the support of family and well-wishers, established his first dal mill in Bakre Khan under the name M/s Shankar Subhash.

His unwavering focus on quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction helped the business earn the trust of customers and traders alike.

1985 – Carrying Forward the Legacy

Following the untimely demise of Shri Munshi Lal Gupta in 1985, the responsibility of continuing the family business passed on to his three sons.

1985 – 1995 | A Challenging Phase

The following years proved challenging as internal family differences affected business growth and operations. Despite these difficulties, the values and reputation established by the founder continued to endure.

1995 – A New Chapter

Determined to rebuild and expand the family legacy, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, the youngest son, embarked on an independent entrepreneurial journey. With resilience, vision, and relentless effort, he laid the foundation for a new and growing business in the pulses industry.

1995 – 2015 | Building Scale and Trust

Over the next two decades, Mr. Sanjay Gupta transformed the business into a respected name in the pulses trade and manufacturing sector. Through disciplined operations, strong customer relationships, and a commitment to quality, the business achieved an annual turnover exceeding ₹300 crore.

2013 – The Next Generation Joins

After completing his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Accounting and Finance, Anirudh Gupta joined the family business with the aspiration of learning every aspect of the industry from the ground up.

2013 – 2023 | A Decade of Learning

Working closely with his father, Anirudh spent ten years gaining hands-on experience across procurement, production, quality control, sales, finance, and operations. This period provided him with a deep understanding of the pulse processing industry and the values that had guided the family business for generations.
